{"id":576,"date":"2012-07-18T16:47:19","date_gmt":"2012-07-18T16:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.wills-etc.co.uk\/index.php\/?p=576"},"modified":"2012-07-18T16:47:19","modified_gmt":"2012-07-18T16:47:19","slug":"variation-of-estates-guidance-series-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wills-etc.co.uk\/index.php\/2012\/07\/variation-of-estates-guidance-series-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Variation of Estates : Guidance Series 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>How <\/strong><strong>you <\/strong><strong>can <\/strong><strong>vary <\/strong><strong>an <\/strong><strong>Estate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Many of my clients don\u2019t realise that who gets the assets when a death occurs, CAN be changed post death.<\/p>\n<p>In many cases when a person dies their Will may be out of date meaning that:<br \/>\n\u2022\tThe final intentions of the deceased are not included<br \/>\n\u2022\tSomeone is left out<br \/>\n\u2022\tAssets go to people who don\u2019t want them<br \/>\n\u2022\tThe way the Estate devolves is not appropriate<\/p>\n<p>Examples of this are:<br \/>\n\u2022\tThe deceased had been meaning to update their Will, but didn\u2019t<br \/>\n\u2022\tMore grandchildren have been born<br \/>\n\u2022\tAdult children have their own Inheritance Tax problems<br \/>\n\u2022\tSetting up only a relatively small amount into a Trust is not tax efficient<\/p>\n<p>Matters can be changed to suit you and your family, so long as:<br \/>\n\u2022\tAny changes are within 2 years of date of death<br \/>\n\u2022\tThe correct tax elections are made<br \/>\n\u2022\tThe necessary people agree to the Variation<\/p>\n<p>If you need further advice about how a Variation could be the solution to an out of date Will, call me for an informal chat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How you can vary an Estate Many of my clients don\u2019t realise that who gets the assets when a death occurs, CAN be changed post death.
